The Mengo Grade One magistrate’s court has remanded Musa Musasizi, a suspected serial killer on five counts of murder.

Musasizi, a resident of Mujomba Zone 6 in Nakulabye Division in Kampala appeared before the Mengo Grade One Magistrate, Amon Magezi on Wednesday afternoon.

Court heard that on February 22, 2021 while at Mujomba Zone 6 in Nakulabye Rubaga Division in Kampala District with malice aforethought, Musasizi murdered Mackline Ahereza. The prosecution told the court Musasizi dumped Ahereza’s body in Nateete and torched it with the help of Abdul Kasaija, a Boda boda rider who appeared together with him in court.

Musasizi was also charged with the murder of Violet Kansiime and her three months old baby Abigail Nakitende on March 12, 2021, Moreen Nabirye on March 14, 2021 and Elizabeth Mutesi on March 15 2021. The prosecution records show that all the murders took place at the same scene in Nakulabye Rubaga Division in Kampala District.

Magezi didn’t allow the accused to plead to the charges, saying the offences can only be tried by the High Court since they capital in nature. The state attorney, Emily Ninsiima told court investigations into the matter were still ongoing.  As a result, Magezi remanded the accused to Kitalya Government’s prison until April 12, 2021, when they will return to court for the mention of their case.

The suspects were arrested about two weeks ago by Police and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence.   According to the Police records, Musasizi would first get involved in a sexual affair with his victims whom he would invite to his house before strangling or stabbing them to death. The police records also show that Musasizi would enjoy seeing his victims struggling for their dear life as they breathe their last.

He would thereafter pack their bodies in sacks together with plastic bottles and dump them at a nearby ground and torch them. It is also alleged that Musasizi killed Mutesi for rejecting Shs. 50,000 he gave her after having sex. Detectives have since recovered the clothes and phones of the victims believed to have dumped in a pit latrine by Musasizi.
