The National broadcaster, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation-UBC has entered an agreement with the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA to broadcast the 2020/21 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

FUFA’s Communications Director, Ahmed Hussein, says that they agreed with UBC to carry the games to popularize the cup.

He says that UBC will broadcast the first round of the 32 games and will keep upgrading at every level of the tournament as the discussions continue.

According to Hussein, the Federation has agreed to meet the costs of production while UBC will provide airtime.

William Odochi, the UBC Marketing manager says that the Public broadcaster entered a mutual agreement with FUFA with the interest of promoting the sport.

Odochi says they hope the arrangement will attract giant companies to come and reduce the costs and push the game to heights.

SC Villa is scheduled to face Ndejje University at Bombo Military Barracks later today in the tournament opener. Recently, FUFA signed a sponsorship deal worth Shillings 132 million with Kansai Plascon for Uganda Cup.

Only premier and big-league clubs will participate in this year’s tournament. Last year’s tournament was cancelled midway because of the Covid19 outbreak.

Uganda cup is the most prestigious competition played annually by all clubs under the Federation of Uganda Football Association.

It is open for all non-league clubs, clubs in the two top leagues and registered clubs playing in all the five football divisions registered by FUFA.
