KAMPALA. Veteran politician and bush war hero, Hajji Abdul Nadduli has attacked the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga for telling a “wrong thing” to the nation on Friday that Kabaka Ronald Mutebi is suffering from an allergy.

Nadduli without evidence alleged that the real health problem disturbing the King is one of his kidneys that had failed.

“But as far as I know, a transplant has already been done. The situation now is that the body (of Kabaka) has not yet gotten used to the new kidney that has been placed in Kabaka’s body,” Nadduli told an online Television, TMO on Friday but later confirmed the same to Newsday.

His allegations could not readily be independently verified and as Newsday, we still consider the official account provided by the Katikkiro as standing until another one is given.

Nadduli said that the genesis on misinformation started with the administration at Mengo keeping silent on the truth, instead opting to promote the news that Kabaka was in Kenya to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and on the most recent time to visit Namasole in Nairobi hospital.

“No one cared to talk about his health. It was a mistake. It’s the birthday fete that put to light the condition of the Kabaka,” Nadduli said.

Nadduli also said that there is a broken administrative structure at Mengo with what is supposed to be a key body-the council of Abattaka (clan heads) not performing as it should. He said that Abattaka should be on top of the Katikkiro and they are the ones to handle sensitive kingdom issues.

He added that he sees a communication gap between the administrative stakeholders within the kingdom organs.

“Getting sick and dying are natural things and that’s why Kabaka Mutebi is the 36th King of Buganda because his predecessors died,” Nadduli said.

He also took a discussion on a situation when during the birthday fete, the Kabaka held his hands bebind his back.

“I think he did that to support his back because of the pain caused by the kidney,” Nadduli said.

The public has been raising questions of the health of the Kabaka since last 2020 when he first went to Kenya only for Mr. Mayiga to say he was there to meet Kenyan leaders.

On Friday, Mr. Mayiga; “We all face health challenges from time to time. And they need to be effectively managed and in the Kabaka’s case, the challenges are related to allergies which when they attack him cause breathing difficulties especially when he has a mask or a shield over his face.”
