Sauna blast kills 2 including businessman in Wakiso

WAKISO-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: A second victim of a sauna burst in Wakiso has died.

The deceased has been identified as Titus Munanura (pictured above), a resident of Nansana where he was a prominent businessman.

A powerful blast of the sauna four days ago left the in Kayunga village, Wakiso District in great fear with some residents initially thinking it was a bomb blast.

The death of Munanura follows that of his colleague only identified as Herbert who died four days ago when a sauna at Experience Inn burst.

Herbert’s body was squeezed in the debris from where police retrieved it. Three people including Munanura were evacuated to hospital in critical condition.

On Wednesday night, Munanura was also announced dead by a friend. He died from Kiruddu hospital where he had been rushed.

“With deep sorrow I announce the demise of my friend, Munanura Titus who was burnt in a Sauna,” Gideon Musinguzi said in a social media post.

Police is investigating the incident. 

In September 2019, at least 5 people were seriously injured and rushed to different healthcare centres after an explosion at Marcos Gym and Spa near Quality Shopping Mall located at Naalya.
