37 Ugandans arrested from bars waiting for England Vs Italy Euro final match

KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Police has raided bars and arrested defiant Ugandans who were boozing as they waited for a football match between Italy and England.

They were arrested in raids at Luzira at Samaki Hub bar and from a foating Island .  

The 37 people, mainly football fans will be charged for flouting the covid19 emergency directives.

“They are currently detained at Jinja Road Police and  will be arraigned in court tomorrow (Monday), police deputy spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire said via tweeter.

The match, a final fete for Euro 2020 ended in a penalty shoot out. Italy emerged with 3 goals against 2 for England.

Bars have been closed for nearly two years now after the coming of the covid19 pandemic.

However, often a time, some bar fanatics decided to forcefully visit these places triggering police raids where many have been detained and charged.
