GULU-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Artiste Jose Chameleon is in trouble after his illegal lockdown music show he staged in Gulu city on Tuesday night.

He named his show after his popular song “Kigwa Leero”.

Police have said they have opened a general enquiry file (GEF) against singer Joseph Mayanja commonly known as Jose Chameleone for contravention of the suspension of social gatherings.

On Tuesday night, Chameleone staged a show at Bus Terminal, a famous hangout in Bardege–Layibi Division in Gulu where he had visited to have a discussion with Gen. Salim Saleh the head of Operation Wealth Creation.

Chameleon’s show attracted various revellers and it came to light after a video shot while he was singing.

David Mudong Ongom, the Aswa River Region police spokesperson said that police intervened and dispersed the crowd shortly after receiving a tip-off from concerned residents.

Denise Odongpiny Odwong, the Gulu resident city commissioner, says that police stopped the show and ordered the singer back to his hotel room in Gulu city.

According to Odongpiny, he is still studying the statutory instrument by the ministry of Health on Covid-19 guidelines to establish whether they take any legal action against the singer. Since July 19, Chameleon has been moving around Gulu city in his white Toyota V8 vehicle.
