KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY : Afghan refuguees have started to arrive in Uganda with fifty one out of the anticipated 2000 already in the country.
A statement from the ministry of foreign affairs released on Wednesday morning said that the evacuues arrived by a privately chartered jet today morning.
“The decision to host those in need is informed by Uganda consistent policy of receiving refuguees and persons in distress,” the statement reads.
It said that although there are Ugandans who were supposed to travel in the flight that brought the Afghans, it was not possible because they could not access Kabul airport.
Afghanistan went into chaos after it’s government was toppled by Talibans.
