KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The 26th Day of October 2021 has mainly focused on the past three day’s news happenings. By the close of yesterday, talk of the country were the bomb scares imaginary and real. We hadn’t yet got to the bottom of the Komamboga bombing when a newest bomb allegedly exploded leaving one dead on a Swift company bus, presumably detonated by a suicide Bomber, Matovu.

The Police originally said that two had died in the bus bombing but then backtracked and said it was one person. The Police seemed to want to rhyme with the President who later on had on Twitter said it was one person so far counted as dead.

The Police’s contradictions with the President didn’t stop on the number of casualties, it also went on to the names of the said suicide bomber who its said turned out to be the only fatality. The President on his Twitter Account said the suspect was a one Muzafala while Police through its spokesperson was a one Matovu Isaac.

It’s also important to note that today has had a little calm with no bomb scares thrown around like it was yesterday where there were claims of suspected bombs at Namasuba and Kalerwe.

The country however remains in scary mood and there are strict checks before one enters taxi and bus parks. Commercial shopping centres like markets, malls, arcades also remain on high alert. In Parliament, the Speaker has today said that it’s legal for the courts of law to either grant or deny bail to those who seek for it while they answer to cases before the said courts. Semujju Nganda who had raised concern over the fate of fellow MPs Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana were denied bail by the Masaka High Court Judge. The speaker asked that the case of the two not be politicized.

The country today woke up to news of the appointment of Major General Don Nabaasa as the new Commander of the Military Police. Nabaasa was once Commander of the elite Special Forces Command. His appointment at this time should of course raise eye brows. While the Military Police is meant to police and keep the Military in line, its normal to always see it on the streets deployed against the civilian population.

Senior One and Senior Five selections kicked off today at Kololo airstrip with the Minister of Education Janet Kataaha Museveni promising to wage war on teachers in Public schools who abscond from duty. She also says systems are being put in place to do away with exam fraud once and for all. A total of 793, 534 students want to join various select schools across the country. All these processes are going on while Schools are still under lock and its still very unclear when the education sector will get running again.

Down in Masaka, the DPP has dropped charges against Rev. Fr. Mugisha who was being accused of murdering a one Kabuye Ronald who was nabbed by vigilantes guarding at Bisanje Catholic Parish where Rev Fr. Mugisha’s is based. Kabuye Ronald was later handed over to the Police but then died mysteriously in a Police Cell at Masaka Central Police Station.

Fr. Mugisha is remembered for having been openly hostile to the regime during the General elections that took place at the year’s beginning.

Reports from Kitagata in Sheema district have last shown that the District Headquarters were on fire as we filed this report.

On the International scene, Sudan’s top General Gen. Abdel Fattah Al Bruhan says they staged a coup to prevent war while the Queen is disappointed she won’t be able to attend the 26th Conference of Parties Summit in Glasgow-Scotland after being advised by aides to take a rest.
