MASAKA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Two skulls and human bones have been recovered from a tycoon’s farm in Lyandonde district and three men have been put under custody.

The men including a Bulenga based businessman Mr Umar Ssempala, a retired UPDF officer Eric Baluku and a traditional doctor Ronald Nnume are being questioned in connection to the human remains.

  • Robert Migadde of Romi’s wine

The trio are alleged to have fixed the skulls at the farm of the Romi Wine producer, Robert Migadde who they had targeted to rob if he failed to pay them Shs. 500 million.

The accused are alleged to have hatched a plan to illegally get the money from Migadde whom they had threatened to report to authorities for murdering two people and burying their remains at his farm. Yet they are the ones who buried the skulls and bones at his farm.

“We are investigating whether this group killed people to hawk their bones and using them to steal wealth Ugandans or they got the bones from graves somewhere,” a detective told Newsday on Wednesday.

  • Suspect: Baluku
  • Suspect: Ssempala

Mr. Ssempala is alleged to have been a friend to Mr. Migadde and that he knows his strong financial standing.

In August Ssempala and four others were arrested in connection to giving police a false report that Migade had buried two bodies at his farm. Ssempala was then arrested with Charles Ssebunnya, Christopher Kakooza and David Wampamba Kibanga.

The rest of the suspects have since been exonerated and instead a UPDF officer and traditional healer arrested. A team of investigators from Kireka Serious Investigations Unit are heading the investigations.

Police statements show the Migade has been harassed for long by the accused who in return claim to have been incensed by the biting economic hardships.
