International warrant of arrest issued for Dr. Kirabo suspected killer in Mak Student Mirembe

KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: An International warrant of arrest has been issued for Dr. Mathew Kirabo key suspected killer of former Makerere University Student Desire Mirembe.

Mirembe died in a grisly murder in 2015. She was aged 19.

Warrant of arrest for Kirabo Mathew issued

The warrant of was arrest was issued on November 16 by the high court registrar of Mukono.

The development came after Kirabo absconded from court appearances for three times. His sureties were ordered to pay Shs.150 million which they wired through Standard Chartered Bank Kampala main branch by Kirabo’s father Geoffrey Wabulembo.

“They came came to court knowing what will happen. As the judge asked them to pay the bond, they and already paid in standard chartered. That family played a syndicate,” the source said.

The warrant orders all police officers to arrest Kirabo from wherever he can be sighted. The father of the deceased girl, Mr Emmanuel Musoke has also staked a Shs.50m cash prize to whoever can arrest Kirabo.

Kirabo got married to an American citizen,Janice at a secret wedding early this month. Kirabo is thought  to have flown out of the country with some reports suggesting he was sighted in Finland  this this week.

Hearing of Mirembe’s case had stalled since 2015 when Kirabo was bailed to enable him complete his medicine course. Mirembe was Kirabo’s classmate.

Trial of the case resumed after the intervention of Col Edith Nakalema who was approached by the father of Mirembe, Emmanuel Musoke after learning that Kirabo had applied for his passport to travel to the United States for a master’s degree in medicine

Col Nakalema then arranged a meeting with the principal judge Flavian Nzeija who appointed justice Kaweesa Henry to preside over the case, which started on October 10.
