KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: A 65-year-old prelate, Paul Ssemogerere has been confirmed as the Archibishop of Kampala by Pope Francis.
Ssemogerere’s appointment was announced by the Papal Nucio in Uganda Luigi Bianco in Kampala on Thursday.
” I have the pleasure to communicate His Lordship Paul Ssemogerere’s appointment (as Kampala Archibishop). Now Kampala archdiocese enters a new period of receiving a new Shephard,”Bianco said during a press conference.
Ssemogerere has been the apostolic administrator of Kampala since the death of Archibishop Cyprian Lwanga early this year.
After his appointment, Ssemogerere said he was greatly humbled.
