KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: 23- year-old Sheila Gashumba has beaten Uganda’s Television and Radio presenters to become Uganda’s most influential, followed and liked personality on tweeter.
Latest figures put her followers at 501.000 people. She was closely followed by NTV’s Farida Nakazibwe who has 478,815; NBS’ Canary Mugume with 449k and Samson Kasumba also from NBS with 447k.
Nationwide, Uganda’s most followed person is President Yoweri Museveni followed by Bobi Wine. Kiiza Besigye, Eddie Kenzo, Sheeba Karungi and Apass follow.
Sheila’s father, Frank Gashumba said that her daughter’s performance was a landmark but non suprising.
” Sheila uses tweeter for the correct reasons. She doesn’t use social media to insult, demean, and dehumanize people she don’t agree, ” Gashumba said.
He added that Social media is all about building meaningful relationships and to attract brands
“Those Ugandans who are using social media for self empowerment and transforming communities are making a kill out of it. Sheilah is the most followed and paid media personality in Uganda, ” Gashumba said.
On Facebook, Sheila has over 1M. She has over over 800k Followers on Instagram. Her huge following has enable big brands like Coca cola, Centenary bank, Africell, World Remit, Movit, Club to worked with her.
“The trick consistency and discipline,” Sheila told Newsday.
