Pastor Ssenyonga’s head of security battling charges of aggrevated robbery.

KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The head of Life Christian Life Church Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga’s security , his fellow guard and two others are battling charges of aggrevated robbery in the High court of Kampala.

Israel Wasswa who heads pastor Jackson Ssenyonga’s security, Ojolongo Ali alias Peter a guard as well as Mr Al Santana Ivan and Mr Mwanda Godfrey alias Kefa were  Monday charged in the criminal division court 3 presided over by Justice Isaac Muwata.

Prosecution alleges Mr. Mukula Sam a resident of Kibe zone, Kaleerwe in Kawempe division, Kampala district was waylaid, assaulted and robbed on June 6, 2018 while he had gone to christian Life Church Bwaise of pastor Jackson Ssenyonga to pray at night.

It’s alleged that at about 10 pm the victim wanted to drink porridge so he moved out of the church to buy it and while he was taking it an usher from the church directed him to return immediately to which he objected.

As he moved he was allegedly intercepted at Umeme offices by the four suspects and others still at large started assaulting him.

The victim managed to recognize the four at a  police parade the following day together with his brother Odeke Joseph who had accompanied him and who also tried to rescue him but in vain.

Prosecution further alleges that during the assault, the victim sustsined serious injuries as attested by police surgeon vide police form three and his belongings namely a watch, an itel cell, national identification and uganda Sh.500.000 robbed.They are accused under section 285 and 286 (2) of the penal code.

 

The case came up for ssession and Mr Wanyama who has since then been on remand pleaded for a prebargaining while his co accused who are out on bail deny the charges.

Justice Muwata postponed the case to Thursday this week for further hearing.
Counsel for the plaintiff Mr Samuel Ssemwogerere said his client Mr Mukula nearly died in the incident and was only saved by medics at various hospitals including Mulago national referral hospital.
