KABAROLE-UGANDA/NEWSDAY; Government has suspended the license of the Link Bus services after a fatal accident in which police has now named 21 passengers killed in yesterday’s accident.
‘We have suspended the link bus license as we investigate,’ junior works minister Musa Ecweru said on Thursday after visiting the site of accident.
The accident occurred at Sebitoli trading centre in Busoro sub-county in Kabarole district on Wednesday along the Fort Portal-Kyenjojo road.
The bus, registration number, UBA 003S destined for Kampala from Bundibugyo district veered off the road and overturned several times.
20 people died on the spot while another victim, John Asiimwe succumbed to injuries today morning at Fort Portal regional referral hospital – bringing to 21, the number of those killed in the accident.
Identities of victims
Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Region police spokesperson has identified some of the deceased as Hassan Sempala, Steven Kahwa, Alum Susan, Jimmy Nkutuma, James Muhanga, Derrick Mujuni, Roseline Kanyunyuzi, Stella Biraba, Moses Masereka, Maxima Kabafumi, Harriet Nabukenya, Alice Nyakuha, Gift Asiimwe, Dauphine Alinda, Divine Alice, Lastako Thembo, Sefania Mussumba, one Monica and another victim who identity has been established.
