MPIGI-UGANDA/NEWSDAY. Two workers have been found dead inside a restaurant in Mpigi just two days after their recruitment.
Katonga region police said the deceased, identified by only one name as Lailah,18, and another Gift ,17- both females , were sleeping inside a kitchen where they were found dead on Sunday morning.
The duo had been hired just two days on Friday from Iganga District to work at the restaurant owned by a woman commonly known as Maama Sasha.
“The girls have been sleeping in the room inside the restaurant and at around 4am, the owner of the restaurant instructed them to light a charcoal stove and cook beans in preparation for Sunday. After lighting the stove both fell asleep and are suspected to have died of suffocation,” said Mr George Ssenabulya, the chairperson Kavule Village.
Katonga Regional Police spokesperson, Mr Joseph Tulya said Mama Sasha is being held by police to provide more information to establish what exactly led to the death of the two girls.
