Helpless NRA war hero, Nadduli demands for son’s bod
NRA war hero and former minister without Portfolio Hajji Abdul Nadduli has demanded to receive his son, Suleiman Jakana Naduli dead or alive.
Jakaana Nadduli whisked away last week by Uganda’s security forces over unknown reasons.
“I don’t know why he was taken but the main issue here is I want my son back. Give me my son or send me his corpse. I tried contacting my generals who are in top positions in this country and I informed them about the issue,” he said.
Jakana was taken in a drone last week and up to now a search for him is without any success.
The leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine said all Ugandans must condemn this new wave of abductions and illegal arrests.
“Jakana’s persecution from the time he got a very suspicious accident that nearly took his life should be a clear reminder that the regime in Uganda has no friends. Considering how much his father has done in the past to anchor the regime, this is not how they should pay him back. Those who still hobnob with the military regime must learn a lesson,” he said.
The secretary general at NUP, David Lewis Rubongoya said if Jakaana has committed any offence, the best way to handle the issue could be to produce him in the courts of law within 48 hours as required by law.
“I just watched on TV his father Mzee Hajj Abdul Nadduli pleading to military generals and other government officials for his son’s release. It is painful to imagine how such a person feels, after giving in so much in a bush war that they all thought was meant to restore sanity and the rule of law in our country,” he said.
Nadduli said his son is still sick having undergone a surgery after an accident early this year and any maltreatment would result into death.
Nadduli said during the war he lost some of his children.
“If I will be paid by losing my son Jakana who survived the war, then it is not something that I would deserve,” Nadduli said.
He called for tolerence against resenting voices. His son has been critical of how the Buganda Kingdom affairs are being run. He has also a fierce critique of government.
