Kampala-Uganda/Newsday: Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has eulogized Her Majesty the Queen as a stateswoman who stood for Unity and Peace.
Reflecting on her 70-year reign, Ms. Among commended the Queen for advocating for unity that is now enjoyed by the commonwealth member states, and world over,as well as promoting the rights of Women.
‘’She leaves a legacy of unmatched constancy. The loss is irreparable. As member states, we shall dearly miss her.’’she said.
She made the remarks at the British High Commission to Uganda where she had gone to pay tribute to the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II. She was received by the British High Commissioner in Uganda in Uganda, H.E Kate Airey.
Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving monarch in British history died on Thursday at the age of 96.
Buckingham Palace announced her death in a short statement, triggering 10 days of national mourning and an outpouring of tributes to her long life and record-breaking reign.
