ENTEBE. The president of Iran, Sayyid Ebrahim Raisolsadati, has arrived in Uganda where he will spend two days on the invitation of President Yoweri Museveni.
He arrived shortly after 3pm and was received at Entebbe International Airport by foreign affairs state minister Henry Okello Oryem.
Later he was welcomed by Museveni at State House Entebbe where he was given a 21-gun salute.
According to foreign affairs, “The purpose of the visit is to strengthen the excellent bilateral relations between the Republic of Uganda and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Before coming to Uganda, Raisolsadat visited Kenya and is expected to head to Zimbabwe after here.
This is the first trip to Africa made by an Iranian president in the past 11 years.
