Senegalese President Sall ends his two day visit

The Senegalese President, Macky Sall has ended his two-day official visit to Uganda with a number of bilateral cooperations signed in the areas of trade, security and intelligence among other sectors. 

He has been seen off by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at Midday from Entebbe International Airport.

During the pre-departure meeting held at State House-Entebbe, President Museveni showcased the different dairy products produced in Uganda including; milk, yoghurt, butter among others to the visiting President in a bid for possible export market opportunities in Senegal.

The meeting was also attended by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Gen. Jeje Odongo among other senior government officials.

During the evening meeting on 18th July 2023 at State House Entebbe, Macky, said he was inspired by the way the East Africa Countries have handled the problem of Terrorism a similar problem experienced in the Western Africa within the Sahel Zone and the Lake Chad. He said they must borrow a leaf on how to handle this challenge.

He says it’s important to work towards a common understanding in solving such problem among others by examining the way intelligence works if terrorism is to be wiped out of Africa.

Sall also credited President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for being  a freedom fighter with a lot of sacrifices to ensure peace and security in Uganda, in the East Africa and the entire African continent.

President Museveni on his part first thanked the visiting President for the positive response to his invitation reaffirming his readiness to ensure a working relationship between the two African Countries.

President Museveni also underscored the need to ensure regional peace if prosperity is to take place in Africa and Uganda and Senegal should explore opportunities in areas namely; Trade & Commerce, Technical cooperation, cooperation in political and diplomatic affairs of Africa, Security and Intelligence for African to attain growth and development.

His Excellency Macky Sall becomes the second Head of State to visit Uganda and hosted by President Museveni in less than 14 days after that of Iranian President H.E Dr. Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday last week.
