Four businesspeople killed in Kassanda road accident

KASSANDA. Four people have been killed in an accident in Kassanda in the wee hours of Sunday.

The dead all residents of Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality in Wakiso District died at 3am at Myanzi Trading Centre in Kassanda District along the Mubende-Mityana highway.

The others sustained serious injuries and are receiving medicare at Mityana hospital.

Police says that a black Fuso Fighter motor vehicle, registration UAY 415C, loaded with Matooke experienced a brake failure thereby losing control.

“(It) overturned, resulting in the instantaneous death of four occupants and injuring three,” Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal for Wamala Region said in a Sunday morning statement.

The injured have been identified as Nambusi Grace, 40 years old, residing in Kikajo, Namasuba, Wakiso District; Bright Patrick, 34 years old, a business person residing in Kibiri-Busabaala, Wakiso District.

Others include Nadunga Lydia, 42 years old, a businesswoman and a resident of Kalerwe.

The bodies of the deceased, yet to be identified, are in Kassanda Health Center IV mortuary, awaiting postmortem examinations.

Police says the tragic accident underscores the vital importance of responsible driving.

“Drivers are reminded not only to operate their vehicles prudently but also to ensure the maintenance and functionality of critical systems such as brakes before embarking on their journeys,” SP Kawala said.
