Three killed in Gomba accident involving bus from Rwanda

GOMBA: At least three people have been confirmed dead after a bus travelling from Rwanda got involved in an accident on the Maddu-Ssembabule road.

According to the Police the accident which happened at 5am on Sunday involved a Jaguar Bus Reg. No UBF 736G Isuzu which was moving from Rwanda to Uganda via Mirama. It occurred at Kajumiro on Maddu-Ssembabule Road in Gomba district.

“It’s alleged that the said M/V while at Kajumiro Maddu-Ssembabule lost control and overturned killing three people including the driver, David Asiimwe and injuring eight others who were passengers travelling in the same bus,” police said in a statement.

The victims have since been rushed to Maddu Health Centre III for treatment while the bodies were taken to Gomba Hospital for postmortem.

“The motor vehicle was towed to Kanoni Police station for inspection while the cause of the accident is not yet known as inquires have commenced to establish the likely cause of this accident,” Police added.

The accident comes almost at the same time with another which occurred in Kassanda district, killing for people.
