KAMPALA: The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, turned down a request by FDC Secretary General Nandala Mafabi to switch the party’s chief whip, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.
This followed a petition by a section of FDC MPs who accused Mafabi of taking action without consulting the party’s National Executive Committee.
Mafabi had selected Yusuf Nsibambi to replace Ssemujju following disagreements between factions at the party’s headquarters.
Disagreements arose from accusations of receiving financial favours from the ruling party chairman and president Yoweri Museveni.
Among is a good friend of Ssemujju who at one time publicly reminded him that whenever he runs into trouble he goes to her instead of Mafabi.
