KAMPALA. The pistol that was used to end the life of popular vlogger Ibrahim Tusuubira alias Isma Olaxess was not registered with any of the government and private security agencies according to police ballistic experts.

Olaxess was shot six times on May 6, 2023, adjacent to his rented home at Kyanja Central Zone in Nakawa Division. But after four months of trying to connect the bullet casings collected from the murder scene, ballistic experts have concluded that the pistol is not connected to any of the previous prominent murders or fatal robberies.

“Majority of the recent murders have been linked by gun cartridges or suspects’ identities. But this one has no traces of previous murders or aggravated robberies. We are basically starting from scratch,” sources said.

In the attack on Gen Edward Katumba Wamala on June 1, 2021 that claimed his daughter and driver, ballistic experts quickly linked one of the guns to the murder of Maj Mohammad Kiggundu in November 2016, at Masanafu trading centre, Lubaga Division, Kampala.

Isma Olaxess killing: Police arrest three suspects including driver

May 8, 2023

Ballistic experts last year linked the guns used to kill Bukwo district chief administrative officer Charles Egwang to robberies in Wakiso district. Police and military anti-violence and intelligence agencies arrested assailants of police officers, soldiers and private security guards using ballistic experts’ findings.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, confirmed that all experts involved in Olaxess’ murder are yet to unearth any details about the murder weapon and the suspects. However, he declined to divulge more details saying it would jeopardize the ongoing investigations.

URN has established that all the seven suspects who had been arrested in connection to Olaxess’ murder have since been released in bits. Among the suspects was Olaxess’ driver, Mathias Waiswa, who security interrogated to understand how he miraculously survived unhurt despite the fact the killers shot from both the passenger and driver’s sides.

It was established that Olaxess’ murderers moved closer, pumped more bullets into his body and left after they confirmed that he was indeed dead. The killers left the scene using a motorcycle which had been waiting for them at a distance.

Four days before his murder, Olaxess had released a video celebrating the murder of the minister of state for Labour Col Charles Okello Engola, who was shot to death by his bodyguard Pte Wilson Sabiiti. Okello was murdered on May 2 also in Kyanja.
