Kampala-Uganda/ NEWSDAY: Kigwana Simon, a former state prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, was found guilty and punished on two charges of corruption by the Anti-Corruption Court.
Kigwana was detained in 2019 by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, which was collaborating with Ugandan police, after he asked Odavious Kasumba and Zam Ndagire for UGX6M in order to object to bail in a criminal case before the Nabweru Chief Magistrate’s Court.
According to reports, the payment was given in return for Kigwana objecting to Abdu Jaggwe’s bail request. Jaggwe is a suspect who is accused of threatening violence in front of the same court.
He will not be able to work for the government for the next ten years and must pay a fine of Ugx7 million.
