Six men remanded over robbery

The suspects were arrested on Friday night of January 5, 2024, after they without any court orders forcefully accessed and partially demolished family home

KAMPALA.The Anti Corruption Unit working with the Kira Road police station have arraigned six suspects before the KCCA Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of Aggravated Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.

The suspects were arrested on Friday night of January 5, 2024, after they without any court orders forcefully accessed and partially demolished family home of the late Eng. Johnson Eliba Orech .

The suspects allegedly stormed with machetes and violently attacked and robbed one of the family members of his phone and money. The suspects include; Lukwago Julius, Kato Hussein, Okello Peter, Kateregga Umar, Ochen Hussein, and Bahati Godfrey. They have been remanded until 01/02/2024.

The family home had earlier been illegally demolished without any Court Order after a similar attack by people acting on the instructions of Yusuf Ssemakula on boxing day 2022.

Officers at Kira Police Station were able to swiftly respond to a distress call made by another family member and apprehend the six suspects who indicated to the police that they had also been sent by Yusuf Ssemakula, an alleged perpetual orchestrator of illegal evictions .
