KIGALI, Aug 11
The leader of Rwandese community in Uganda and city businessman Frank Gashumba was among the regional guests who attended president Paul Kagame’s swearing ceremony in Kigali Rwanda.
Gashumba popularly known as ” Ssabavandimwe” translating from “Babandimwe” as the Uganda Rwandese community call them selves was specially invited and dully attended and well represented all his constituencies at the function.
Uganda was represented by a big team at the Kigali, Amahoro stadium function which included the first son and army commander Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba among others.
President Paul Kagame was sworn into office on Sunday for a five-year term, after a landslide win in last month’s election extended his near quarter century in office.
The 66-year-old former rebel leader won the July poll with 99.18% of the vote, after eight other candidates including his most vocal critics were barred by the electoral commission.
At the function, president Kagame said his
new mandate means the beginning of even more hard work.
Thousands attended many of them wearing T-shirts in the yellow, green and blue colours of the national flag.
