The operations to prevent SACCO bosses from interfering with the financial gains of their members will not end until bad leadership are put right.

The State House Anti Corruption Unit working with Uganda police and the office of the DPP have charged SACCO leaders in Bunangabu, Bugisu sub region before court for fraud related cases.

Those charged include Mr Khamale Micheal- Parish Chief of Bunagabu Parish and WakumaDavid-Chairperson Bunangubu PDM SACCO .
in Manafwa District.

They were charged before the Magistrate’s Court of Manafwa, on charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Obtaining Money by False Pretense and Theft of PDM funds.

They were remanded until 26/08/2024.

Court was told that the accused and others still at large, between the month of February and July 2024 at Bunangabu Parish, Manafwa District, conspired to illegally demand and collect millions of shillings from hundreds of beneficiaries of Bunangabu PDM SACCO as a condition for them to benefit from PDM funds.

They went ahead and stole some of the money meant for beneficiaries.
Part of the money has already been recovered from the suspects.
