Ten passengers have been confirmed dead along the Kampala-Kyenjonjo-Fort Portal highway when a taxi collided with a Pokopoko company bus. The accident occurred last night at about 4:00am at a place called Kaihura located along Fort Portal- Kampala road.
According to Vincent Twesigye, the police public relations officer for Kyenjojo, the fatal accident occurred when a motor vehicle Registration number UBE 807T Isuzu Bus of Pokopoko company, which was coming from Kampala side collided with motor vehicle Registration number UBR 812G Toyota Hiace taxi, which was coming from Fort Portal.
It killed 10 passengers in the taxi including the driver, eight male adults and females.
According to Twesigye, for yet unknown reasons, the taxi left its side and moved to  the side of the bus and collided head on with the oncoming bus which had maintained its side’.
He said the police visited the scene to help the injuries and remove the bodies and the wreckage as inquiries continued. The police were yet to get the deatils of the deceased passengers. It was not yet established whether anyone in the bus was injured.
