GOLD SCAMMERS AT ENTEBBE IN’TL AIRPORT ARRESTED ,CHARGED

THE anti graft agencies led by State House Anti Corruption Unit, Uganda police and the office of the DPP yesterday arraigned and charged six suspects for illegal dealing in minerals.
Their arrest followed a directive from H.E, the President, who directed the Head of SHACU , Brig.Gen Henry Isoke to investigate the matter.
On 30th September 2024, a team was dispatched to the Airport, for an operation over the matter and six suspects were arrested.
They include: including;
Kananura Daniel, a Businessman ,Mpomba Richard, Clearing Agent at Entebbe International Airport, Muhwezi Benon, Clearing Agent at Entebbe International Airport, Nkahirwa Pascal, Clearing Agent in Kampala,
Mujuzi John Keneddy, a cleaner at the Airport and
Bekalaze Ismail, Clearing Agent at the airport.
They were found with 11 plastic boxes containing 300 metal bars they claimed were gold and intended to use the same to defraud unsuspecting persons, especially investors and businessmen.
Upon a forensic analysis by the minerals experts from the Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines, the items were found to be other minerals other than gold.
They were all b charged at the Entebbe Chief Magistrate’s Court with dealing in minerals without a license, mingling minerals with intent to defraud and smuggling minerals.
They are remanded till 25/10/2024.
