The Ugandan general public headed by the Kira municipality MP, Hon Ssemujju Nganda have hailed the Uganda police for arresting a woman who assaulted a police officer on duty.

Mercy Timbitwire Bashisha was by Saturday still in Jinja Road police coolers after she assaulted a police officer in addition to intimidating the officer and confiscating his EPS gadget and two phones.

According to police information, she was arrested on Friday, 18 October 2024 at 11:15 am when she assaulted a traffic police officer on duty.

” A police officer attempted to stop a white Toyota Land Cruiser Reg .No UBM 439T who had cause an accident but refused and continued driving on phone” reads a police statement in part.
It’s alleged, that Bashisha later packed at UMA grounds along Jinja Road after the traffic officer caught up with her at the near by traffic lights point.

Police and CCTV and phone recordings indicate that what followed was Bashisha to almost undress the officer literally.

She is seen throwing insults to the calm officer before confiscating his two phones and EPS gadgets to the anger of the general public.

The MP, Hon Ssemujju Nganda wrote , ” sometimes you just have to respect the uniform, otherwise a round of slaps would restore sense back to her head. You can’t bring your bad up bringing to every one.Kudos to this officer, I need to meet him in person..”

Hon Ssemujju was not alone , multitudes have continued to castigate the errant woman for behaving as if she is the first woman to drive such a car.

Others praised the officer for keeping his cool.

Mr Mukisa was just quick to say that when you see the usually hated police being protected, it indicates how the accused went over board.

By last night police investigations were still going on.
