Court-martial Releases NUP Head Of Security After 3 Months

MAKINDYE
THE security head of the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters, Mr Achileo Kivumbi has been released on 2 million shillings cash bail by the General Court Martial in Makindye, Kampala.
He has been in detention for nearly three months during which he was allegedly subjected to unfriendly treatment.
He was allegedly abducted on August 1 and later taken to his home, where military operatives planted military pips, which was witnessed by onlookers.
He was then arraigned before the military court and charged with unlawful possession of military equipment.

Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine said that Kivumbi’s release is a relief, but many other political prisoners remain detained.
