These include Kananura Daniel, Mpomba Richard, Muhwezi Benon, Nkahirwa Pascal, Mujuzi John Keneddy and Bekalaze Ismail .

The suspects were apprehended on September 30 following an order by President Museveni to probe illegal airport activities.

In the 30th September 2024 operation which was headed by the State House Anti Corruption Unit working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions the suspects were nabbed by leading exhibits.

These included 11 plastic boxes containing 300 metal bars they claimed were gold and intended to use the same to defraud unsuspecting persons, especially investors and businessmen.

Upon a forensic analysis by the minerals experts from the Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines, the items were found to be other minerals other than gold.

They have been denied bail for the second time and further remanded until 28/10/2024.

Initially charged on October 11, the suspects are facing accusations of engaging in mineral transactions without proper authorization, mixing minerals with the intention to deceive, and smuggling minerals.

The accused individuals were returned to Kigo prison as they await further legal proceedings.
