THOUSANDS of Ugandans from the Islamic Faith and other religious denominations have mourned sheikh Anas Ssessimba, a member of the College of Sheikh at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Headquarters at old Kampala, who passed away at Mulago National Referral Hospital Wednesday.

Sheikh Ssesimba one of the long serving organizing secretary at UMSC was an all rounder and welcomed everyone with an open heart.

According to the office of the Mufti, Ssesimba passed away early on October 30, 2024, at Mulago Hospital, where he was being treated for heart failure and diabetes.

The official Muslim leader ,Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, expressed profound sorrow, describing Ssesimba as a devoted cleric who dedicated his life to the UMSC.

Sheikh Mulani Ssali, the head of religion at Old Kampala said the Muslim faith has lost a great leader, adding that Sheikh Ssesimba trained them in Islamic studies.

In late 2016, Sheikh Ssesimba caused panic to Ugandan community when news of his attempts on his life along Kampala_ Masaka high way went viral.

It was not until Uganda police put the matter to rest when it was discovered that it was a lunatic who had stoned his car around Mitala Maria not a gun bullet as had been earlier said.
Those were dark days of murdering Muslim clerics.
