THE flamboyant assistant RDC for Rukiga , Majambere Kamuntu Ssemakula Ivan, who court sent to jail over suspected land grabbing and stealing of about 157 cows has bragged immediately he got bail saying, “….I know as long as H.E @Kagutamuseveni is the president, I will get justice”
On his X handle he said that “many civil servants are in positions because of the works of his and other freedom fighter’s works but they miss use their offices and will regret”
But his wording has not gone well with a section of some Ugandans who wondered whether the president who put up the institutions which cornered him will smile over his alleged deeds.
A source from the investigation told Media that his file is getting bigger with reliable evidence and wondered why the suspect is over the moon about a successful ful bail.
” The matter is in court we can’t talk much but evidence is pouring like rain and there some other allegations beyond this current case” said investigation.
Only last week, Majambere was arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, together with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and arraigned before the Gomba Magistrates’ Court on allegations of land grabbing.
Majambere, along with other individuals who are still at large, were allegedly charged with Conspiracy to Defraud, Stealing Cattle and Criminal Trespass.
Court heard that in August 2023, Majambere and his accomplices violently seized a farmland comprising approximately 300 acres (Block 75, Plot 2) in Gomba District, which belongs to Frank Rushanganwa. Rushanganwa has held a certificate of title for the land since 2003.
During the incident, they unlawfully stole 157 cows valued at UGX 318 million and transported them to an unknown location. Majambere claims to have purchased part of the land from his co-accused, Mwesigye, in 2020, who, in turn, asserted that he had bought the entire property in 2018 from undisclosed individuals.
It was alleged that they further engaged individuals to occupy the land, misleading them into believing that they had sold portions of it.
In March 2024, the court issued an eviction order for Majambere and his co-accused. So far, 101 cows have been recovered by the police. He has then remanded until 3/12/2024.
