FRESH details pertaining to the falling huge branch of Nakayima Ghost tree have emerged with police naming the victims as traditionist blame the occurance on sex and evil at the festive site.

The area police which had sealed off the area and temporally suspended the festivities which are climaxed in December had confirmed four people dead not five as first reported but those injured exceeded five.

The incident happened towards 5 am on Wednesday morning as the main annual celebration of the end of year cultural festivity was underway.

By accident time the preceding events by the more than 300 pilgrims who thronged Booma Hill in Mubende municipality were almost over.

Police has commenced investigations , sealed off the place with deputy RDC , Mubende, Abubaker Birungi announcing a temporary closure of the site .

The goddess is known among the Baganda, Batooro and Banyoro as well as other traditionist to be providing power , fertility, strength and blessings among others.

Some traditionist say the goddess was being messed by some people who come with ill intentions while others indulge in sexual activities during festivities which is a taboo.

Nakayima Tree, known as Nakayima tree shrine or Nakayima witch tree, or ” Embuga ya Nakayima” is an ancient historical tree and cultural heritage site in Mubende District in Uganda.

It is among the oldest tree in Uganda with its age over 350 years.

But James Wabuli, a tour guide at the site, explained that rituals were rightfully conducted as part of the preparations.

He explained that “attendees began arriving last night, as the main function was scheduled for December 5. Many slept under the tree after the rituals, but at around 5:00 AM, a branch fell, causing this tragic loss,”

Police named the deceased as Annet Nakabuye, 45, a businesswoman from Masaka; Evelyn Twebaze, 39, from Bukomansimbi District; and two more still unidentified while those injured included,
Rose Namatovu, 48, from Gomba District.
Victoria Nalubiri, 13, a pupil from Mubende.
Teddy Nanono, 37, from Mubende.
Mariah Nabukera, 46, from Masaka.
Josephine Namatovu, 35, from Sembabule District,
Caroline Natukunda, 35, from Kampala and
Ronald Kimbugwe Reagan, 13, a pupil from Sembabule District and were being
treated at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.
