Masaka Court Remands 3 Over PDM SACCO Cash

COURT in Masaka charged and remanded three people including an agricultural officer for Stealing PDM SACCO money among others.

PROSECUTION ; FLYING SQUAD SUSPECTS REMANDED AGAIN

This was on Monday , December 9,2024 afternoon when the suspects who were arrested by the State House Anti Corruption unit working together with Uganda police and the office of the DPP were brought to book.

They include, Mr Mutebi John Rogers, Bbale Joseph, and Matovu John, an Agricultural Officer/Focal Person for Masaka District.

They ere arraigned before the Masaka Chief Magistrates Court in Masaka City and faced charges of theft and neglect of duty.

They denied the alleged charges and were remanded until December 23, 2024.

Court heard that the accused, Mutebi and Bbale in the months of December 2023 and October 2024 allegedly stole millions of shillings intended for the PDM SACCO members in Bukakata Sub-County, Masaka District.

Additionally, Matovu ,the Agricultural Officer/Focal Person for Masaka District, was accused of neglecting his supervisory responsibilities in monitoring the activities and progress of PDM SACCOs within the district.

Their arrest followed the joint inspection tour and baraza that was led by the Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Hon. Rose Lily Akello, to address service delivery gaps and in Greater Masaka District and City on November 23, 2024.

The anti corruption agencies are set to wipe out any one found jeopadizing the smooth running of the PDM project and other corruption tendencies country wide.
