Mmengo Castigates Gravity Omutujju, Lil Pazo Over Immorality Songs, Bans Them On CBS, BBS

BUGANDA Kingdom has condemned the increasing habbit of some insensible musicians employing immorality in Luganda songs saying apart from abusing the respectable language it also corrupts the morals of the younger generation.

Speaking at Bulange, Mmengo, Monday December 9,2024 , Buganda premier, Charles Peter Mayiga warned musicians to compose meaning ful songs and stop employing immorality moreover using Luganda language.

” There is this man Gravity Omutujju whom only see on television because I don’t know him and another boy Lil Pazo from Masaka, they are killing this country with their Luganda immorality songs and such should stop” said Mayiga.

He was meeting Lord Fred Ssebatta a respectable Kadongokamu singer who has been around for over 40 years with his good enriching music.He is organizing a concert mid this month.

Mayiga warned that if Gravity Omutujju and other immoral singers think that they are making market, they are mistaken and will go down with their immorality after all it’s causing moral decay and embrassment.

He thereafter directed CBD FM and BBS never to play any such music or they will be held accountable.

Meanwhile, UNCC’s Phina Mugerwa, also known as Masanyalaze, summoned the two artists for a meeting to address these concerns.

The Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) reportedly summoned artists Gereson Wabuyi, known as Gravity Omutujju, and Mukasa Yasin, also known as Lil Pazo Lunabe, over vulgar content in their music.

In a letter dated December 3, UNCC’s Phina Mugerwa, also known as Masanyalaze, extended an invitation to the two artists for a meeting to address these concerns.

The meeting was scheduled for Monday, December 9, 2024 at National Theatre at 10:00am.

The meeting was to engage in a dialogue regarding the “vulgar content” associated with their works, including Gravity’s songs like “Okwepicha,” “Enyama,” “Doozi,” and his latest release “Omunio,” as well as Lil Pazo Lunabe’s tracks “Enkudi” and “Ensuju.”

She said all this content does not align with Ugandan norms, culture and the creative sector as a whole.

Omutujju’s new release, “Omunio,” had sparked outrage on social media, with some demanding government intervention to ban the song due to its explicit lyrics.
