Those killed were Muhammad Kaiga, 64; the father, his wife, and their son, Hamuza Swagga, 26.

Busoga North region police spokesman ASP Micheal Kasadha told media that this incident happened in Budini Nyanza Zone in Kaliro Town Council early Monday, December 9, 2024.

Police managed to arrested four suspects
mong them Abdu Wangule, 62, the Local Council I Chairman of Budini Nyanza Zone, Simon Waiswa, 40; Willy Kiige, 64; and Isma Njagi 20, all residents.

It’s alleged that what started as a normal morning turned ugly after Kaiga told Swagga to slash grass on a contested mango garden which provoked some residents attacking Swagga and when he fled and entered his father’s house the mob locked it from out side and set it ablaze killing all the three occupants.

Kaliro police efforts to put down the fire did not yield as the victims had perished by the time of arrival and the three bodies were taken to Bumanya Health Centre IV mortuary for postmortem examinations.

By Tuesday police was completing investigations to charge the suspects for murder and other related charges.
