Kampala Leading Pork Cooperative Members Accuse Bosses Of Dishonest

MEMBERS of Uganda’s oldest cooperative society which brings together pig killers for Kampala market have accused their leaders of dishonest.
The cooperative runs the only legal pig slaughter house in the city.
They say the top leadership is running the cooperative society out side the law , draining it and giving members meagre devidends.
A section of members of Wambizzi cooperative society limited who contacted this Media accused cooperative chairman Mr Paul Sserubiri and his committee of gloss mismanagement .
They have called on government and relevant authorities to come to their rescue.
During the annual general meeting last week, the office of the registrar of cooperatives faulted the audited books of account with anomalies.
According to reliable information , the balancing of the books of accounts left gaps between the gloss profits and net profits let alone the proceediers and the timing of the sitting which was out of the framework.
There were also queries about the outdated by laws, the invalidity of the share value which still remained at sh 1000 despite appreciation and other issues relating to the cooperative land tittles .
The cooperative is located at Nalukolongo industrial area with structures, kiosks and abundant space which some members fear may be subdivided and sold dubiously.
During the AGM members were given sh 400,000 as devidends each which some said was peanuts given all the money they make for a full year.
Each pig slaughtered Is levied atleast sh 7000 and that they are the only gazzetted pig butcher in Kampala and neigborhood.
However Mr Sserubiri told our Writer that whereas it’s true that their report had some few grey areas, they are working towards correcting such.
He said the association is more than fifty years old and that they are trying to uplift it to acceptable standards.
