Residents of Lyabaana Town council in Buvuma district were left in shock after a fisherman who was caught red handed with a married woman drowned himself after an encounter with the sweetheart’s husband.

The incident which some residents have attributed to a charm happened Tuesday 7 ,2025 when Stephan Nanyungi 45, killed himself by drowning into lake waters.

A resident of Gayaza village in Ziiru ward, Nanyungi was known for using fish money to attract women regardless of their status.

According to his friends, towards Christmas he connected with Amida Tebazire who was married to Ronald Mubiru and they agreed she spends the festive season at his residence.

The regional police spokesperson, Hellen Butoto told media that Amida lied to her husband that she was going to visit her parents but left them only after a few days and joined Nanyungi at his home.

She said it was at Nanyungi’s house that Mubiru caught them red handed after a tip off and the two men fought severely.

It’s alleged that it was neighbors who saved Nanyungi and condemned him for attracting someone’s wife.

However after the incident Nanyungi started moving around the village vowing to kill himself and started giving out his belongings to friends.

And on Tuesday he threw himself in the deep waters of lake Victoria and drowned.
Police later retrieved his body with fishermen and was burried.
