Police in Kabale have in detention a notorious criminal and still hunting for his associates who of recent, have been terrorizing parts of Kabale municipality.
The suspect is a 19 years old John Asan a glass fixer and resident of Kashaki A” Nyamiyaga parish Bubare sub county Rubanda district,
It’s alleged that the suspect and others still at large almost ended the life of teacher Dickson Byamugisha of Brain Stone High School .
It’s reported that on the 10/08/2024 at around 23;00hrs at Nyakambu cell near BAJ fuel station in southern division, Byamugisha was robbed of his phone and money and he was severely cut.
The suspect was arrested on an intelligence tip off on the 15/01/2025 from one of the lodges in Kigongi where he had stayed for some days.
He confessed to have participated in that incident together with his other four (04) colleagues who are now on the run.
Fortunately, the teacher ‘s phone has been recovered from someone who alleges that he bought it from this suspect in custody. According to Asp Elly Maate the area spokesperson all efforts are now focusing on arresting the remaining four (04) thugs who are on the run.
Maate said that It has to be noted that it is this same group of five (05) thugs who had made it a habit of robbing people of their properties within town and it’s suburbs for the last 3 months using pangas and a Motorcycle as their means of transport after robbing.
Maate warmed people to desist from buying second hand items from individuals to avoid being victims of such circumstances.
According to Maate the operations against thugs involved in such criminalities will continue until they are brought to order for sanity.
