She killed her daughter and burried her in a secret shallow grave and decieved neighbors that she was in hospital.
Zainabu Mulungi 21, is facing murder charges after police in Kamuli arrested her for allegedly killing her one-year-old daughter, Kabawo Hadija.
The incident happened in Nalinaibi village, Nawanyago sub-county.
According to neighbours and relatives they grew suspicious after noticing the child’s absence for two days.
And when they asked Mulungi ,she lied to them that she had taken her daughter to the hospital before she left her home to hide in the neighborhood.
But later on Friday March 14,2025 after two days of the girl’s absence, a foul smell led family members to a shallow grave near Mulungi’s home.
They immediately alerted local chairperson and police which swung into action confirming the murder and arresting the mother to face her charges.
Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Kasadha Michael, commended the community for vigilance saying investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the child’s death.
