KAMPALA
The trial of men accused of the murdering former Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi, Wednesday stalled after two prime suspects released on bail failed to turn up.
Mr Bruhan Balyejjusa, also known as Jimmy Masiga didn’t not show up and he is now the second suspect to jump bail after Shaffic Kasujja whose where about also remain unknown .
Because of this scenario, the international crimes division of the high court in Kampala which is handling the case had no option but to postpone until April 24, 2025, in hopes of locating them.
Andrew Felix Kaweesi was a senior Ugandan police officer who served as the Uganda Police Force spokesperson and director of human resource development until he was gunned down on March 17, 2017, at the age of 43.
He was shot him dead near his home in Kulambiro, Kampala, alongside his bodyguard and driver Wambewo.
While tens of suspects were initially arrested and tortured, only eight were committed to trial under this court.
Six of them the missing two included are out on bail leaving only two, Abdul Rashid Mbaziira and Aramanzani Noordin Higenyi to be remaining in jail for the last eight years and were further remanded .
The court is composed of juststices Winifred Nabisinde, Susan Okalany, Richard Wabwire Wejuli, and Andrew Bashaija.
