Security and police have sounded a warning to people intending to move money during the festive season to be more cautious as wrong elements may want to forcefully get ends met.
The warning comes as police in Kajansi Division, Wakiso district is investigating an aggravated robbery case which occurred on 11th April 2025 at around 6:20 PM in Lweza Cell A.
The location is in Ndejje Division, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.
According to eyewitnesses, two thugs came riding on a red Haojue motorcycle (Reg. UGG 774A) and broke the windows of a parked Toyota Premio (Reg. UBE 079Z) which was outside N & M Unisex Salon.
At that moment they had pulled out a gun an AK-47 rifle which they had hid in the bag on arrival.
They managed to take out two bags from the car suspected to have been containing money but as they tried to flee,
they were confronted by a boda boda riders.
Another witness added that the thugs then started to shoot and two riders , Tumwesigye Peter (27) and Abdul Swabur (18) who had led the confrontation were shot and injured and later admitted at Mildmay Hospital and Mulago Referral Hospital.
But the chase continued and eventually one suspect was cornered and subdued.
The Kampala deputy Metropolitan Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.
Police said that the confrontation which was joined by police and locals resulted into the death of one suspect, and recovery of an AK-47 rifle* Red Haojue motorcycle (UGG 774A),One cartridge,A national ID (suspected to belong to one of the assailants),two mobile phones, a red bag allegedly used to conceal the firearm and a black bag with a ring spanner .
Another suspect fled with some items and the hunt is on.
Police thanked whoever helped to stop the crime and called for more vigilance but also cautioned the general public to be more alert during this festive season.
