The police officer who became the face of Kampala as he went about doing his job of stopping Dr Kiiza Besigye’s walk to work campaign Assistant Commissioner of police Sam Omara is no more.

Late Omara shoot to fame from 2011 when he headed the police field unit which was deployed to stop Besigye’s advances.

For months Omara and his tough men camped in Kasangati near Dr Besigye’s residence.

He did his command with such toughness that he became out spoken leading news paper headlines.

He later retired from the force and somehow apologized in case he over did what he was meant to do.

Omara was alsi famous for regular police operations around Kampala.

Married with two wives one being a Muganda Omara prided in being “omuko’ in Buganda.

After police work, he founded Arrow security company before his health deteriorated.

According to one of his sons, Omara junior, his daddy succumbed to high blood pressure, kidney failure and other ailments which he has struggled with for some time.
