Many people were feared dead after a YY Coaches bus, registration number UAV 701C overturned and caught fire near Makindu Trading Centre in Buikwe District on Monday evening.

According to Traffic police spokesperson, Michael Kananura, the tragic incident occurred at approximately 5:00 PM in Makindu Village, along the Kisoga–Nyenga Road in Buikwe District.

“The crash involved a Scania motor vehicle, registration number UAV 701C, belonging to YY Company,” Kananura said in a brief statement on Monday evening.

The incident occured after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn before bursting into flames.

It overturned and caught fire, resulting in the loss of lives, who are yet to be identified, and injuries to multiple passengers who have been rushed to Kawolo Hospital, St. Francis Lwanga Hospital in Buikwe, and other nearby health facilities, where they are currently receiving medical attention,” Kananura said.
