Mr Akleo Migisha, an Advocate was recently arrested by the state House Anti corruption unit working together with Uganda police and office of the DPP after details emerged that he participated in corruption deals.

He was Thursday arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of Forgery, Theft, and Conspiracy to defraud the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).

The council is the body responsible for the regulation of the Nursing profession in Uganda.

He denied the said charges and was remanded to prison until June 17, 2025.

Court was briefed that the accused, along with several others, including a dismissed Magistrate, Cissy Mudhasi, orchestrated a scheme by producing and using falsified legal documents to irregularly obtain an arbitral award from court, and
unlawfully obtained over UGX 444.3M.

Court heard that they purported to have been contracted by UNMC to develop a software and database application for which the Council failed to pay, thus the ficticious court process that resulted in an irregularly issued garneshee order which they used to attach the Council’s account, from which they stole this money.
