He was Tuesday 20, 2025 slammed with charges of corruption and conspiracy to defraud.

Courts heard that in 2023, the accused and others, including the Lira District land board Chairperson, Chankoma Paul, solicited a bribe of UGX70M and received UGX 5M as part from Eryao Francis.

Eryao had bought land comprised in the freehold Register, LIRI 181, Folio 3, plot 31 in Lira, whose title they claimed had been issued fraudulently to the former owners, and it was supposed to be cancelled.

They therefore claimed that they were able to influence the decision of the land board not to cancel his title.

His arrest followed a complaint to anti corruption units majorly the state House Anti corruption unit which worked with Uganda police and the DPP’s office to apprehend the suspect.

He however denied the charges and was remanded until 27th May 2025.
