The alleged rot in police has taken another level where some officers connive to Implicate innocent people with a tailored plan of putting them in jail and grab from them.

Such is allegedly the move which the State House Anti corruption unit arrested a police officer in Katwe.

The unit working together with Uganda police and the DPP’s office Friday afternoon arraigned Detective Sergeant Ngabirano Protasi, a police officer attached to Nsangi Police Station, before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Mak indye on charges of destroying evidence and conspiracy to obstruct the course of justice.

Court Heard that the charges stem from an incident in January 2025 in which Sgt. Ngabirano, together with others still at large, allegedly conspired to falsely implicate a one Richard Sewanonda in a case of aggravated robbery, removed a key witness statement from an official police file at Katwe Police Station in Makindye Division, Kampala District and substituted it with a statement implicating Sewanonda.

D/sgt Ngabirano was dealing with other parties that intended to dispose of Sewanonda’s contested land while he is in prison.

Information further indicate that such a deal would end with Mr Ssewanonda getting jailed and by the time he would regain his freedom, his land would have been grabbed.

The suspect denied the charges and was granted bail as Investigations continue.
