The fight against corruption in great Mpigi is taking further steps with the anti graft agencies putting three Officials behind bars.
After arresting bosses in Mpigi district, the State House Anti Corruption agencies led by State House Anti Corruption Unit (SHACU) working with Uganda police and office of the DPP arraigned, 3 Senior District officials in Gomba District over alleged corruption.
Those paraded before court included Mr Mugerwa John Bosco, the Chairperson district service commission, Mr Muwonge Michael, Secretary and Mr . Lwanga Charles, the District Inspector of Schools .
They were charged before the Grade 1 Magistrate Court in Gomba District on charges of Demanding Money with Menaces and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
They denied all the changes and were remanded till July 25, 2025.
It was alleged that the two Service Commission members between the months of February and November 2024 with intent to steal, conspired and extorted money from different applicants who were required to pay bribes between Ugx 1 million and 20 million to be considered for jobs.
Some of the victims eventually secured senior positions within the district.
Additionally, Mr. Charles Lwanga, Senior Inspector of Schools at Gomba District Local Government, was charged with extorting funds from various Head Teachers in the district by promising them improved postings and promotions
